Floods in the zero hours of 6th August 2010 in and around Leh town was more a geological phenomenon and the devastation caused was the result of MAN MADE construction in the geologically unfavorable environment

The theory of cloud burst does not exists............?????

Heavy rain coupled with simple landslides which blocked the main channels to form a wall actually resulted in the formation of wall resulting in the formation of water reservoir. This wall ruptured on 6th August causing the floods in Leh. The devastation was so strong that 12-15 feet debris was deposited in less then 5 minutes and people were sinking in this thick mud debris in Choglamsar .

The impact could have been minimum if the paleo channel of the streams channels not blocked by the habitation.

Traditional wisdom of the ancestors does play important role is identifying the boundaries of the floods plains and Manay walls constructed more then 500 years ago prevented the habitations from these floods. But the geologiclal significance of these walls was lost in course of time and religious importance made these thick walls week in due course of time. Much of devastation in effected areas was prevented where the MANAY walls were intact

The case study of Shakhsi linpo Nala/stream and Sabo conducted by Dr Ritesh Arya with his French students Marion and Erwan clearly establishes the phenomenon to be geological in nature INDUCED due to blockage of the ancient glacio fluvial channels by landslides. This resulted in formation of reservoir which ruptured causing flash floods in its original course and destroying the habitations which were constructed on the glacio fluvial channel. This actually caused the havoc and devastation on 6th August 2010 which resulted in more 200 deaths and majority missing besides resulting in loss of property which fell on these ancient channels.

PROCESS WAS NATURAL BUT THE DEVASTATION WAS DUE TO MAN MADE ACTIVITIES which ignored the simple geological processes FOR BUILDING HABITATIONS

No evidence of phenomenon like cloud burst was formed when the tops of Sabu and Skampari Nala were scaled by Dr Arya and his team.

We all know that glaciers are melting,floods are part of day, sea level rise and land submergence will be the order of day all induced due to warming but the way it was being projected by IPCC under chair of Pachuari really is questionable because it seems IPCC or for that matter anybody it seems have no clue about what they were saying about warming.
We need better technologies to curb pollution and alternate energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels there is nothing wrong in all the statements but there is lot of doubt when global warming is related to man made activities. or increased temperatures or GHGs.
Global warming is just a natural phenomenon and man actually has no role to influence the warming process

I was really disappointed that the honest govt like yours is supporting Manipulator of global warming processes

Secondly inspite of the fact that we have invented the best technologies to curb pollution and increased our dependency from fossil fuel at present to alternate sources of energy to reduce our carbon footprints and also help us to increase the carbon credits and play the carbon credit games properly still we and our civilisations will be washed because of the simple flash flood activities or a simple cyclone, as our future generations will be busy playing the carbon credit games. Instead of continuing to survey the general population on the causes of global warming, researcher Peter Doran, an associate professor of earth and environmental sciences at the University of Illinois in Chicago, working with Maggie Kendall Zimmerman, a former graduate student, asked over 10,200 experts from all around the world to answer a few global warming-related questions for him, in an online questionnaire. The conclusions weren't surprising at all – more than 90 percent of the 3,146 respondents agreed that mean temperatures went up compared to 1800 levels, while 82 said that humans were largely responsible for this occurrence.
The online questionnaire could only be accessed via invitation, and only experts were invited to

participate. The researchers sent e-mails to research labs, private companies, and governmental research centers from around the world. They got the list of names from the 2007 issue of the American Geological Institute's Directory of Geoscience Departments.

However, the survey did yield some interesting results. Petroleum geologists and meteorologists were among those doubting human influence on the environment, rating at 47 and 64 percent, respectively. And while in the case of geologists handling oil was the clear reason why they responded the way they did, the researchers were very amazed to find that meteorologists doubted human influence as well.

“The petroleum geologist response is not too surprising, but the meteorologists' is very interesting. Most members of the public think meteorologists know climate, but most of them actually study very short-term phenomenon (sic),” Doran said.

He added that more than 97 percent of climatologists that had answered the survey believed that the human factor was the most important one in global warming and in climate change. “They're the ones who study and publish on climate science. So I guess the take-home message is, the more you know about the field of climate science, the more you're likely to believe in global warming and humankind's contribution to it,” the lead researcher concluded.

Global warming is natural: Enjoy it

If global warming is man made then how would one explain the cooling in near future.
Articles in nature should reflect the scientific opinion and not be based on surveys and political/ business statements.
Al Gore in his inconvienient truth tried to highlight the warming by experimenting with the frog as a scientist we are in age of Homo sapiens and how amphibians respond to the climate changes is entirely different from the human response.

Global warming and colling are cyclic processes global warming leads to melting of glaciers flodding cyclones increased sea level rise but imagine what would cooling lead to how many of us including UN IPCC memebers would love to live in Antarctica or Arctic Neither biotic(Man or his activities) nor abiotic( geological factors like earthquakes,volcanoes etc ) can have any impact on sustaianble basis on warming or cooling they are bound to happen iresspective of what man does.

Pollution is man made but global warming is natural we can control polution but not warming

and many others who are participating......in this research......

we may have different conclusions but observations and data has to be good and recorded properly....

there is great confusion in which data is collected and manipulated polluted by IPCC (international Pollution creating committee) and how and on what basis are they holding GHGs CO2 etc to enhance the global warming natural cycles where as till date no formula has been worked out to establish their direct relationship.. Its all imagination and no truths........

You must now be thinking "Thank God for the IPCC, otherwise I wouldn't have had anyone to blame the 'global warming conspiracy on'". There are sufficient people like you out there, unfortunately. I don't know about you personally, but most of the others are either oblivious to their impact on the environment, or simply play the agenda of large fossil fuel companies. These companies have been proven countless times over to influence lobby group, by paying them dirty money to argue for oil and coal in front of national governments.

The type of mentality you are sporting is dangerous for two reasons. One, you believe that there is a higher force that dictates the cycles, and that has created everything. Secondly, you feel like humans cannot influence nature sufficiently enough to make a difference in its natural cycles. You gracefully ignore countless studies linking CO2 and methane to global warming and climate change. You ignore long-term measurements showing how the natural trends are all but gone from what's happening now. I suggest you pick up some books and remedy that.

of course, the IPCC is wrong and you are right, you and whatever obscure site entitle truth about(insertwhatevernamehere)dot org. The IPCC does not conduct studies in itself. There are research groups from around the world that compile the reports, each of them laden with details from their respective countries of origin. How you can simply ignore all that is beyond me. You keep such an aerial set of arguments, that one doesn't even know where to start to argue against them. And that is your line of thought's biggest advantage and flow - it's so general that it would make any intelligent person laugh first off. You are completely and utterly wrong. Saying that there is no connection between GHG and global warming is simply stupid, ignorant, and false. In short, it is a bold lie, that you hope to pass as the truth. There are literally hundred of studies to testify this connection, and only a couple of other saying differently, mostly funded by the people who want to keep destroying our world. So, go read some studies, learn to look pass pre-GHG propaganda, and then write statements like you just did.

‘Global warming is natural, enjoy it’

The hot news on global warming is that “it’s natural” Man has nothing to do with it.

Rather, global warming and cooling processes are like day and night, though of longer durations.

No wonder, award-winning Indian Geologist Dr Ritesh Arya suggests, “Enjoy it”.

A specialist in hydrogeology and groundwater resources in the Himalayas, Dr Arya says, “Man is too small to cause any impact on global warming.”

Author of research papers and invited by the Royal Geographical Society in 2005 to discuss climate change, Dr Arya insists, “Holding man and his activities responsible for pollution is acceptable. Blaming him for global warming is far from truth.”

His vision is not without basis. “Experiments carried while drilling wells in the Indus basin clearly show major glaciers melted much before the advent of industrialisation,” he says. “The rate at which the glaciers receded, though unknown in those times, was much faster than now being projected and related to the activities of man.”

Dr Arya’s views have found a platform in Turkey. He is scheduled to give vent to his findings through a scientific paper. It has been accepted for presentation during a worldwide conference on global warming in Istanbul, Turkey. It is slated to be held from July 5 to July 9.

Dr Arya says his new paper emphasises on the need to reexamine the global warming definition. The one in currency holds man and his activities responsible for increased global warming in recent years.

Dr Arya believes the time has come to put things straight, before it is too late. “Holding mankind responsible for directly or indirectly contributing to increase in greenhouse gases, leading to enhanced temperatures or faster melting rates of glaciers, will only make things worse.”

The so-called greenhouse gases, he says, are essential for survival. Dr Arya is, otherwise also, convinced that global cooling will only lead to extinction. “Imagine living in Antarctica or Greenland for the rest of your life without water, without cyclones, without floods,” Dr Arya says.

He says his paper “is based on the data gathered for over a decade from the bore-well samples drilled in the Indus basin in Ladakh and the Indian-Himalayan region.

“Bore-well samples analysed from the wells drilled clearly show that global warming and cooling processes are like day and night though of longer durations. They are an essential part of the natural cycle.”

So what are the suggestions and safeguards? “With little precaution while selecting the site in geologically stable habitats for habitation near the coasts or glacio-fluvial valleys, the impacts of global warming like cyclones, flash flooding and land submergence can be minimised,” he asserts, adding, “As such, it’s high time we learn to enjoy global warming.”

I appreciarte UNIPCC concern on global warming and climate change and film on Antarctica OR Artic or Greenland was good to show what was happening there but there is other face of the coin and I would like to show that

What is the guarantee that global warming will be controlled if entire CO2 and other so called GHGs are removed or reduced from this planet????? What is IPCC going to achieve by unanimously trying to fit by hook or by crook all their data to prove their imaginative point and fix responsibility on these untalkative gases which are essential for our basic survival.... and indirectly hold man and his activities responsible for global warming......... The data and element/compound selection of IPCC is in question????? We should not be fighting our friends (these GHGs are essential gases for our very survival) Time has come to act and take a decision now....... and decision in the right direction...... but what decision and against whom...... There is simple relationship between increased CO2 in nature and man Man requires more CO2 for producing more plants and O2 to feed and support the exponential growth in population now and in future. 7. Mixing pollution (technologies) and global warming (natural cyclic processes) is the root cause of all the mess and confusion we are all in............. (courtesy IPCC or International Pollution Creating Committee)

8. All this manipulative scientific data which mixes the two phenomenons should be immediately banned and the manipulators brought to book to save the earth and future generation.

9. So called developed nations should owe moral responsibility for selling polluting technologies at exorbitant prices in the past. Pollution has to be controlled using sustainable better technologies....and these technologies should not have any patents..... But who knows these so called awarded and patented technologies of today become more polluting technologies of the future.....as has happened in the past

10. Global warming cannot be controlled ......it can only be enjoyed.........

Building sustainable habitats in geologically sound locations...........

I request all to understand the geological aspect while commenting on global warming otherwise world would be forced to take a decision, a decision which will never save our brothers and sisters from the wraths of flooding, cyclones or sea level rise.........

Running after carbon and GHGs will only help earn billions to the selected few (..........). About my work

All what I have said I mean each word of it and has been researched for over and over. I have lived with each word I have spoken

I have field evidences to support what I say.......each and every word.......well documented in the rocks and the borewell samples drilled in all the hydro stratigraphic zones across the Himalayas.....speak volumes of the taphonomic process they have undergone from time of their birth evolution to development to erosion and transportation and final deposition to be unearthed by someone who can understand their language. A simple rock in Himalayas can through ample amount of information about the cyclicity of warming and cooling cycles they have undergone.

We do not have to look for OZONE holes or GHG emission or wait for the CO2 balloon to burst ..in order to see their relationship with warming...all these are non existent imaginations created by pseudo doctors to run their business coining one word after another and earn billions in return. It is not an established fact that there is actually any relationship between the two. But there is well established relationship between the technologies and the Pollutions we are creating. Once awarded technologies of the so called developed world is source of pollution and emissions to the other parts of the world. And hence the confusion created by them to camouflage their wrong doings to the world in the name of INDUSTRIALISATION in the past and Carbon reductions and carbon sequestration now. All in the name to reduce CO2 otherwise who will allow them to put CO2 back into the earth and pump more oil.....

My research and thoughts are based on simple geological observations and principles FOR ANYBODY TO SEE observe talk to the rocks and get all the information they want. If we are talking of getting all the signatures from Space and moon what is the problem in systematically analysising the signatures on the earth which are very well documented and are there to guide whole world for the sustainable solutions to live in harmony with nature and enjoy the warming processes now and in future.

PSEUDO DOCTORS AND GEOLOGISTS

Problem today is not with the disease but so called technicians or pseudo doctors who pose to be doctors and pretend to diagonise the disease, treat it and try to operate on them.

GEOLOGISTS ARE DOCTORS OF MOTHER EARTH AND KNOW THAT EARTH MAINTAINS ITS EQUILIBRIUM NATURALLY. BUT UNFORTUNATELY TODAY TALKING ABOUT WARMING HAS BECOME THE BEST PASS TIME AMONG EVERYBODY ....INCLUDING THE CHEMISTS , THE PHYSICISTS OR SATELLITE IMAGERIES, ENVIRONMENTALIST, CLIMATOLOGISTS, BIOLOGIST,...OR POLITICIANS,,,,,,,,,,,,, ANYBODY BUT THE DOCTORS.....AND IF THE REAL DOCTORS SPEAK TRUTHFULLY HE GETS THE COMMENTS YOU JUST MENTIONED IN YOUR MAIL......BUT WHO CARES....

I feel pity for the mess created by these pseudo doctors who are creating more panic and threat and misguiding the common man in the name of global warming and climate change.......then the processes themselves would have caused. Floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, cyclones etc will occur when their time comes in nature,,,,,,but the fear of warming created by IPCC has been so badly imbibed in our minds that we have to live ???/die everyday thinking about what we are doing to control things which we are actually not responsible for controlling.

POLLUTION AND GLOBAL WARMING: THE AL GORE FACTOR

Here I remember an ancient quote modified by me to suite the context

AL GORE AND PATCHURI are rewarded for beautifully mixing the two and creating a pathetic situation we are in. This reminds me of a similar situation which was created by America when they attacked IRAQ but where are the weapons of MASS destruction

Who will question Al Gore for creating CO2 which is an essential Gas for our survival on this planet, as a monster and projecting its increase to be a threat for the entire man kind......And who will question the Nobel committee for choosing these manipulators for the prestigious prize

Remember the Carbon Cycle we studied in school ,,,,,,

CO2 IS ESSENTIAL FOR PLANTS, INCREASED CARBON MEANS MORE PLANTS WHICH MEANS MORE FOOD AND O2 TO SUPPORT THE INCREASED POPULATION IN THIS ENTIRE WORLD...... THIS IS CONVENIENT TRUTH

Because we would have exhausted all our resources fighting our best friends CO2 and GHG and still not have done anything to protect our brethren from the vagaries of flash flooding cyclones etc....

PATENTED POLLUTING TECHNOLOGIES

Remember we are in the mess of emission today because we imported once rewarded, patented but now polluting technologies paying huge amounts from so called developed countries in the past.

Today these so called developed countries should owe the moral responsibility for distributing these polluting technology and in turn earn billions.........

Time has come to build proper unpatented technologies and distribute it free of cost to all the world with stickers written on it clearing saying that "we are sorry to the world for creating the pollution and mess we are in as we FAILED TO PROVIDE SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES because of our materialistic approach in the past which is still continuing".

I would end by letter challenging anybody including Al Gore et al..... to have one to one debate on all the issues related to this topic...........

I AM CONFIDANT THAT WE WILL BEGIN the discussion WITH THE DEFINITION OF GLOBAL WARMING AND THE DEBATE WILLSTART AND END WITH THIS ONLY......

Stop fooling people in the name of global warming and work in the right direction in improving the technology to curb pollution and build sustainable habitats in geologically sound locations.

You really don’t have to go to Arctic or Greenland or Antarctica to see ozone depletion and glacial melting to witness what global warming can do...fortunately and that ..is not the only thing which is observed there..

There we see something else also and that is how life is there to be living in GLOBAL COOLING times......I don’t think AL Gore or Pahchuri spend more then a night in Arctic and that would be an experience to be living in global cooling times......why don’t they live with the scientists there in Antarctica to Enjoy Global Cooling if they cannot enjoy Global warming,,,,,,,

Is Climate really changing ..........or the change was there since time immemorial .......and we did not observe it.....

sattelite Imageries and instruments have created more awareness more

information..

but why create panic and fear without diagonising the problem ,....

We are in warming cycle .....since the last ice age

Many islands have evolved and many cities have submerged in the geological past

Many civilisations have been destroyed in the past due to flooding

and will be destroyed in near future..

Scandinavian countries ( Norway,Iceland, Finland Holland Sweden and

other coastal cities including Maldives, Mauritius,etc are most susceptible and ...

have to find sustainable geo habitats in geologically sound locations......

to brave the atrocities of global warming ...

Running after ozone depletion or Green House Gases emissions is an Inconvenient Truth

will not save us from the adversaries of global warming....... Only geological stable sites can

run will only help in evoling better technologies to curb pollution...

‘Global warming is natural, enjoy it’ Declares Indian Geologist

‘Global cooling will lead to our extinction’

Award-winning Indian Geologist Dr. Ritesh Arya, who specializes in hydrogeology and groundwater resources in the Himalayas, declared, “Global warming is natural, enjoy it” and asserted that “man is too small to cause any impact on global warming.” Arya, warned that “global cooling will lead to our extinction.”

Arya will be discussing his new scientific paper which has been accepted for presentation at the July 5-9 2009 Global Conference on Global Warming in Istanbul, Turkey. Ayra was the recipient of the Great Indian Achievers Award 2004 and the Bharat Excellence Award 2003.

“Holding man and his activities responsible for pollution is truth, but holding him responsible for global warming is an “Inconvenient Truth” because man is too small to cause any changes of global scale on a sustainable basis,” Arya said on January 5, 2008. Arya says his new paper “emphasises the need to re-examine the global warming definition as proposed by UN IPCC which holds man and his activities responsible for increased global warming in recent years. Experiments carried by the author while drilling wells in the Indus Basin clearly show that major glaciers, including the Indus Glacier which extended from Mansarovar in Tibet to the Arabian Sea, melted much before the advent of industrialisation and the rates of receding of glaciers, though unknown in those times, were much faster then are being projected and related to the activities of man today.”

“The time has come to put things about global warming straight, before it is too late. Associating global warming to the activities of man as proposed by UN IPCC and holding mankind’s actions responsible for directly or indirectly contributing to increased greenhouse gases, leading to enhanced temperatures or faster melting rates of glaciers, will only make things worse because the definition and approach tries to establish a mathematical relationship between man and his environment but completely fails to explain the process in totality. Hence this confused scenario where we have become our own enemies and it seems we are fighting a lost battle. But the reality is totally different and man is too small to cause any impact on global warming,” Arya explained.

“So-called greenhouse gases are essential for our survival now and increased population in the future, but today these gases are treated as if they are threatening our very existence by enhancing the global warming processes. Global cooling will lead to our extinction. Imagine living in Antarctica or Greenland for the rest of the life without water, without cyclones, without floods. So it’s high time we learn to enjoy global warming,” Arya said.

Arya says his paper “is based on the data gathered for over a decade from the borewell samples drilled in the paleo-glacio-fluvial deposits of the Indus basin in Ladakh, Indian Himalayan region. Borewell samples analysed from the wells drilled clearly show that global warming and cooling processes are like day and night though with longer durations. They are an essential part of the global climate natural cycle which acts in uniform to continuously change the various landforms on this mother earth and make it geomorphologicaly so beautiful.”

Indian Geologist Dr. Ritesh Arya, who specializes in hydrogeology and groundwater resources in the Himalayas, has authored several research papers and was invited by the Royal Geographical Society in 2005 to discuss climate change. Ayra, who has been the recipient of the Great Indian Achievers Award 2004 and the Bharat Excellence Award 2003, rejected man-made climate fears in 2008. “There is urgent need to put the phenomenon, which had not been triggered off suddenly, in the right perspective, as today almost every human activity right from vehicular emissions to use of polythene is being linked to global warming which was a much larger event which started as soon as the Ice Age ended. The fact was that the ‘biotic’ agents (man and other living organisms) had a very small role compared to the ‘abiotic’ (geological, geomorphologic, climatologic, planetary and hydrological) events like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, movement of glaciers and landslides,” Arya told The Tribune on February 18, 2008. According to the article, Arya termed “the hype and panic over ‘global warming’ as ‘unnecessary.’” “There is a hype of global warming created by western mass media and there is a need to redefine the whole concept,” Arya said on June 14, 2008. He also has been recognized by the Guinness World Records for his “achievement in finding aretsian groundwater in the Chushul area at an altitude of more than 14,000 ft.”

PATENTED POLLUTING TECHNOLOGIES

Remember we are in the mess of emission today because we imported once rewarded, patented but now polluting technologies paying huge amounts from so called developed countries in the past.

Today these so called developed countries should owe the moral responsibility for distributing these polluting technology and in turn earn billions.........

Time has come for them to repent and build proper unpatented technologies and distribute it free of cost to all the world with stickers written on it clearing saying that

"we are sorry to the world for creating the pollution and mess we are in as we FAILED TO PROVIDE SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES because of our materialistic approach in the past which is still continuing".
